Synthetic Holography

We are conducting fundamental research aimed at the development of a practical system for real time synthetic holography (RTSH). The short term program goal is to develop a holographic display system capable of presenting spatially accurate 3D polychromatic images at video frame rates with a “reach-in” human interface.

The longer term program objective is adding the ability to synthesize the hologram from live multi-specrtral non-holographic source media such as airborne stereo cameras and synthetic aperture radar. We will then combine the live imagery with static data, such as GIS mapping information to create a high fidelity, spatially accurate virtual environment.
